HEALTH ALERT! - We have had a couple of cases of pertussis (whooping cough) in the parish. Infants under 2 months are especially vulnerable because they haven’t received an inoculation yet at that age. Adults can help by double-checking your immunization records. The inoculation typically comes with a tetanus shot every ten years.

St. Stephen Respect Life Committee invites you to Harvest of Mercy on Saturday, October 26th featuring Trish Short, a powerful witness to life and truth.  Trish will share the personal life story of her own life renewed through Divine Mercy.  An American dinner menu by Flame Catering will be served at 6:30 in St. Stephen Social Hall.  More info from the Harvest of Mercy link at www.ststephenslife.com.

Child Care Volunteers Needed  -  We are in need of 18 volunteers to begin assisting in the nursery as soon as possible. Experience with infants and toddlers is preferred. Teen & adult volunteers welcome. Volunteers will assist with Mass and special events. A child care volunteer is also needed time for mom's group which meets every Wednesday 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. beginning Sept. 18th. All Volunteers 18 and older are required to complete a background check take Called to Protect. Collection Counters Needed! - We are in need of two volunteers to assist the Parish Bookkeeper with collection counting on Monday mornings.  Collection counters count and prepare for deposit all cash receipts received by Saint Stephen the Martyr Parish.  Ten key experience and an accounting background are preferred but not required. Generally, reservations are granted on a first come first serve basis (for choice spaces, on any given weekend). Applications are available in the parish office. (Call of Motherhood Explored) Program will begin our weekly meetings starting this Wednesday, September 18th.    Motherhood at every stage is life-changing and beC.O.M.E. seeks to help moms with children of all ages and stages, fulfill the high calling of motherhood by digging deep into Scripture and Catechism to understand God’s design for motherhood; then explores the practical ways we live this calling in our twenty-first century lives. We support the vocation of motherhood by meeting weekly throughout the school year, as well as hosting special events and service opportunities. We meet Wednesdays from 9:30 - 11:30 AM. An annual $30 membership fee contributes to the cost of materials and guest speakers (scholarships available).  We also encourage a small donation for use of the childcare services.

Honduras and Africa Missions Oktoberfest Dinner is coming October 19th!  SAVE THE DATE!
The Honduras/Africa Mission teams are sponsoring an Oktoberfest Dinner festival on the evening of October 19th in the St. Stephen’s social hall.  The festival will include live music, fantastic authentic German food, the finest locally brewed beer, silent auction items, and a festive atmosphere.  All proceeds will be used to directly support children of Honduras and Africa.  Please mark your calendars and watch the upcoming bulletins for further announcements.

Octoberfest at St. Anthony’s Get your polka on for St. Anthony's "Octobearfest" 2013!  This year it's on Saturday, October 5th,  10-5 pm at the St. Anthony Parish Hall.  This is a community event open to everyone.  There will be homemade Filipino and Mexican Food (Torreros) , brats and beer, and plenty of sweets at the St. Stephens Parents Club bake sale.   We'll have carnival-type games, a cake walk,  and good old-fashioned family fun. Dwelling Place returns Monday September 23rd following evening mass from about 7:30 to 9:30 PM.  This is a new healing prayer ministry from WWCCR and hosted by St. Stephens. Volunteers Needed to Bring Communion to Paitents at Valley Medical Center - St. Stephen's is working with Valley City Medical Center to bring Communion to their Catholic patients on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays each month.  Parishioners go to the hospital in pairs and are asked to commit to one day a month.  Volunteers for this ministry must be Confirmed Catholic and must complete an orientation with Fr. K of C Soccer Challenge for all male and female youth between ages of 10 to 14. When: Saturday September 14th. Time: Between 9am toNoon. Where: Renton High School at 400 S. 2nd  in the Northwest corner of the field behind the school. Winners of that competition will go forward to District Finals on September 21st at St. John the Baptist Church at 25810 156th Ave Se, Covington.  After that State Finals will be announced later. Prizes and an awards ceremony will take place at a later Fall date. Contests will try to kick the ball at the net which has targets that have differing point values.  The contestant with the highest total scores moves on and up. (Call of Motherhood Explored) Program will begin our weekly meetings starting this Wednesday, September 18th.    Motherhood at every stage is life-changing and beC.O.M.E. seeks to help moms with children of all ages and stages, fulfill the high calling of motherhood by digging deep into Scripture and Catechism to understand God’s design for motherhood; then explores the practical ways we live this calling in our twenty-first century lives. We support the vocation of motherhood by meeting weekly throughout the school year, as well as hosting special events and service opportunities. We meet Wednesdays from 9:30 - 11:30 AM.
