October 20th, 2013

All Parish families are invited to check out the new Little Saints preschool downstairs after Sunday Masses on October 27th from 9:45-10:45 and again from 12:15-1:15.  There are still a few openings available for this school year.

HEALTH ALERT! - We have had a couple of cases of pertussis (whooping cough) in the parish. Infants under 2 months are especially vulnerable because they haven’t received an inoculation yet at that age. Adults can help by double-checking your immunization records. The inoculation typically comes with a tetanus shot every ten years.

St. Stephen Respect Life Committee invites you to Harvest of Mercy on Saturday, October 26th featuring Trish Short, a powerful witness to life and truth.  Trish will share the personal life story of her own life renewed through Divine Mercy.  An American dinner menu by Flame Catering will be served at 6:30 in St. Stephen Social Hall.  More info from the Harvest of Mercy link at www.ststephenslife.com.

Thanksgiving Dinner - This year we'd like to try something different in hosting our annual Thanksgiving Dinner. Instead of a few people doing most all the work we thought it would be nice to try pulling together a committee to give others who normally aren't involved an opportunity to serve in a new way. There are many ways to serve in this parish and I can't think of a more rewarding way to be able to do that in such a way as serving during this special time of year for those who may not have any other family but us. In forming this committee it will not take too much considering  we've been serving these dinners for years and we have it pretty much down pat. It just takes willing servants to help put it all together. Below are listed some of the opportunities to serve on the committee. Some would require a person to be present during the dinner and and other not. If you feel as though this may be a way the Lord is asking you to serve his children then please contact Candace in Outreach or if you have any questions.  Needed Service Positions: -Meal Prep Coordinator -Food Donations Coordinator -Shopper -Decoration Coordinator -Media Coordinator-Volunteer Coordinator

For about 10 years, The Central Deanery has funded leadership training and deanery operations and donated to deanery charities (Seminarian Aid, Pregnancy Aid, and March for Life Buses) by having a Preview night at the Renton Civic Theater.  For $15 (lower than average cost of $18 to $22) the attendees see live theater and have dessert.  You are invited to the next Theater night is Thursday, October 24, 2013 (Doors open at 7pm) for the Agatha Christie mystery, "Then There were None."
For more information of tickets contact:  Deanery President is Phyllis Albrecht  phyllis.albrecht@yahoo.com or 425-271-7165 Tickets will be sold after all Masses

Men's Shelter Through the month of November St. Stephen's families and ministries will be serving at the men's shelter hosted at King of Kings Lutheran on the Benson. If you and your family or ministry would like to volunteer to supply and serve a meal on evening during the month please see the sign up board in the narthex and pick up an informational sheet there as well.

Women's Shelter Though our parish family is not yet directly serving the women's shelter at Holy Spirit in Kent we were invited to take part if this would be something you were interested in.  All coordination of the women's shelter going on at this time is done by                                Holy Spirit. 253-859-0444
